How to Get The Most Out of Juicing

Homemade juices are associated with a number of documented health benefits, including improved energy and increased cardiovascular health. Making your own juice is an excellent way of getting your daily vitamins and nutrients, but more importantly it is also a great meal supplement.

When juicing for health benefits, select darker green produce for the foundation of your drinks. Using ingredients such as: broccoli, chard, parsley, kale and spinach will yield healthier results.

If you are worried about the bitter taste that many of the green produce tend to have, adding cucumber will help to neutralize the unpleasant flavor.

Use color as your guide when preparing you juice, highly pigmented fruits and vegetables are often brimming with nutrition, from gorgeous greens to radiant reds and all the colors in between. Make choices from each colorful group, and you’ll benefit from the variety in tastes, vitamins and minerals.

Strive to prepare juices that are composed of 50 to 70 percent green, and use the remaining percentage to flavor the juice with other vegetables or fruits you might like. Take it easy on sugary fruits, they aren’t nearly as healthy as greens.
